Bellefonte, PA – A $5,000 reward is being offered for information that could solve the 20-year-old cold case of missing Centre County District Attorney Ray Gricar.

Gricar was last seen on April 15, 2005, after leaving work early and calling his longtime girlfriend, Patty Fornicola, to say he was driving toward Lewisburg via Route 192. He never returned home and was reported missing late that evening.

According to Pennsylvania State Police Troop G – Hollidaysburg Station, Gricar’s red 2004 Mini Cooper was discovered the next day in a dirt parking lot near the Susquehanna River in Union County. His phone was found locked inside the vehicle, along with a water bottle containing his DNA. The car keys were missing, and cigarette ashes were found in the vehicle, despite Gricar’s known dislike of smoking.

Investigators say Gricar, 59 at the time, took only his county-issued laptop and sunglasses with him. The laptop was found submerged in the river in July 2005, and the damaged hard drive was recovered later in October. Prior searches on his home computer included “how to wreck a hard drive” and “water damage to a notebook computer.”

Gricar’s disappearance has drawn national attention due to eerie similarities with his brother’s 1996 disappearance and subsequent suicide. However, police say there is no conclusive evidence linking the cases or suggesting suicide in Gricar’s case.

Authorities are encouraging anyone with information to contact PSP Hollidaysburg Station at 814-696-6100 or submit tips online at www.p3tips.com. All tips may be eligible for a cash reward.
