South Bend, IN – A suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with a homicide on the city’s west side.
On Tuesday, July 30, South Bend Police were dispatched to the 3600 block of W. Sample Street following a ShotSpotter notification. Upon arrival, officers located 20-year-old Isaiah Walton-Davis suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save him, Walton-Davis ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
According to the South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit, an investigation identified 18-year-old Cyjarron Odynski as a suspect. Odynski was apprehended on Friday. On Saturday, the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office charged him with murder in the death of Walton-Davis.
Odynski also faces charges of Escape in connection with an earlier case under the jurisdiction of Juvenile Justice Center (JJC). He is currently being held at the St. Joseph County Jail.
