13-Year-Old Arrested in Peoria for Carrying Loaded Handgun on W. Lincoln Street

Peoria, IL – A 13-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday afternoon after Peoria police officers found him carrying a loaded handgun in the 3000 block of West Lincoln.

Peoria Police Department’s Special Investigations Division (SID) spotted the juvenile around 12:45 p.m. Officers confronted the boy and found a handgun on his person. Police transported him to the Peoria Police Department for questioning.

According to police, the boy was later arrested for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possessing a handgun without a Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card, and unlawful possession of a firearm by someone under 21. He was then transferred to the Juvenile Detention Center.

Authorities are asking anyone with information on this incident or other crimes to contact the Peoria Police Department or Crime Stoppers. Police emphasized all suspects remain innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
