Kensington, NH – New Hampshire State Police are renewing efforts to solve the decades-old homicide of Joseph Furando, whose death in Kensington remains unsolved more than 46 years later.
According to the New Hampshire State Police Cold Case Unit, Furando’s body was discovered on Saturday, May 17, 1979, along Brewer Road just off Route 150 in Kensington.
Investigators said Joseph V. Furando, 39, of Gilford, Connecticut, had been traveling in New Hampshire on a business trip at the time of his death. Authorities said he was last seen in Newton, Massachusetts, on Wednesday, May 16, 1979, and had reservations at a Holiday Inn in Portsmouth later that evening.
Police said Furando was found lying approximately 20 feet from his vehicle. An autopsy later determined he died from a gunshot wound to the head.
The case remains classified as an unsolved homicide, and investigators are again urging anyone with information to come forward.
According to state police, tips can be submitted directly to the New Hampshire Cold Case Unit through the department’s online reporting system or by emailing coldcaseunit@dos.nh.gov.
Authorities did not release additional investigative details but emphasized that even small pieces of information could help detectives advance the case after more than four decades.
