CASS COUNTY, MI — An Indiana man is dead after a chase early Sunday morning.

According to Cass County Sheriff reports it began around midnight Sunday, when a police chase originating from Nappanee, Indiana, led to a devastating crash in Michigan.

Adrian Smith, 49, of Elkhart, Indiana, died when an allegedly stolen vehicle he was in as a passenger struck a tree near Cassopolis Road. Smith reportedly wasn’t wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
