Elkhart, Indiana – A 13-year-old girl operating a horse and buggy was injured Monday following a collision with a Chrysler 200. The accident occurred around 4:40 p.m. at the crossroads of County Road 34 and County Road 31, as reported by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.
According to investigators, the teenage girl was emerging from a property onto County Road 34 when her buggy inadvertently entered the path of the oncoming Chrysler, driven by a 19-year-old woman from Goshen. Despite the car driver’s efforts, she could not stop in time, resulting in the buggy being struck and flipping onto its side.
The young buggy operator experienced pain following the accident, highlighting the potential dangers on rural roads where such traditional modes of transport are still in use. The driver of the Chrysler 200 was not reported to have sustained any injuries.
