Central Indiana – Three tornadoes have been confirmed across central Indiana following severe storms earlier this week, according to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.

According to the National Weather Service, survey teams identified one tornado north of Cortland in Jackson County and two additional tornadoes near Mooresville in Morgan County after conducting damage assessments from Monday’s storms.

The Jackson County tornado has been rated EF-1, with estimated peak winds of 105 mph. Officials said the tornado touched down around 4:44 p.m. and remained on the ground for approximately two miles, causing localized damage along its path.

In Morgan County, two separate tornadoes were confirmed near Mooresville. One was rated EF-1 with peak winds around 105 mph, while the second was rated EF-0 with winds near 85 mph. The tornadoes had relatively short paths, measuring under three miles combined.

Damage reports from the surveys include downed trees and minor structural impacts consistent with lower-end tornado ratings. Despite the activity, authorities reported no injuries or fatalities linked to the storms.

The storms moved through the Indianapolis metro region as part of a broader severe weather system impacting much of the Midwest.

The National Weather Service continues to review storm data and encourages residents to stay alert during the active spring severe weather season.
