Fort Wayne, Indiana – A woman is in critical condition following an early morning shooting in Fort Wayne, prompting an active investigation by local police and homicide detectives.
According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, officers were dispatched around 4:45 a.m. Friday to the 200 block of Corwin Lane after reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they located an adult female suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
She was transported to a nearby hospital, where medical staff determined her injuries to be life-threatening. Authorities have not released her identity.
The Fort Wayne Police Department’s Homicide Team, along with the Crime Scene Unit and Air Support Unit, responded to the scene to process evidence and assist in the investigation. Detectives are interviewing witnesses and canvassing the area for surveillance footage that may help determine what led up to the shooting.
Officials noted that interpreters were brought in to assist investigators due to a language barrier that initially slowed the process.
At this time, no suspect has been identified. Police say the investigation remains ongoing and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
