Fort Wayne, Indiana – A woman is dead following an early morning hit-and-run crash in Fort Wayne, and police are searching for the driver المسؤول for fleeing the scene.

According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, officers responded at approximately 1:41 a.m. Wednesday to the 200 block of East Rudisill Boulevard for reports of a pedestrian struck. When officers arrived, they found an adult female in the roadway suffering from life-threatening injuries.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Her identity has not yet been released pending notification of family, and officials say the Allen County Coroner’s Office will determine the exact cause and manner of death.

Preliminary information indicates the woman was crossing the roadway southbound when she was struck by a larger SUV traveling eastbound. Police said the driver did not stop and fled the scene. No detailed description of the vehicle or driver has been released at this time.

Investigators remained at the scene for several hours processing evidence and are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses in an effort to identify the vehicle involved.
