Joliet, IL Barn Fire Destroys Vacant Structure Saturday Afternoon

Joliet, IL – A large vacant barn was destroyed in a Saturday afternoon fire, but firefighters were able to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby structures, according to the Joliet Fire Department.

According to the Joliet Fire Department, crews were dispatched at approximately 1:45 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2026, to the 12325 block of County Line Road for a reported structure fire.

Company 10 arrived within two minutes and found the barn fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters launched an exterior attack on the structure and were able to bring the blaze under control.

Officials said crews successfully stopped the fire from extending to adjacent buildings, preventing additional property damage. The property was vacant at the time of the fire.

Firefighters remained at the scene for about two hours extinguishing hot spots before clearing the incident. Authorities said the barn was a total loss.

No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported.

According to the Joliet Fire Department, crews from Stations 7, 8, 9 and 10 responded to assist with the incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and no additional information has been released.
