Crete, IL – Families with incoming kindergarten students in Crete-Monee School District 201-U are invited to attend upcoming screening sessions later this month, with no appointment required.
According to the district, kindergarten screenings for the 2026–2027 school year will take place on Tuesday, May 13, 2026, and Wednesday, May 14, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Crete-Monee Early Learning Center, located at 1500 South Sangamon Street in Crete.
Officials say the screenings are intended for children who are new to the district and entering kindergarten. Each session lasts about 30 minutes, and families are asked to attend only one of the two available dates.
According to the district, the screening process helps teachers gather early information about a child’s development, including academic readiness, social skills, and overall growth. The goal is to better prepare staff to support students as they begin their education.
District officials noted that current Early Learning Center students do not need to attend, as they will be screened during the school day before the end of the current academic year.
Families seeking additional details can access the 2026–2027 Kindergarten Handbook through the district’s website or contact the Office of Teaching and Learning for more information.
School leaders say they look forward to welcoming new students and helping families prepare for the upcoming school year.
