Sims, IL – The town is on high alert after multiple pythons were discovered abandoned in a residence on Railroad Street.

Wayne County Sheriff Chris Otey and his deputies, with the help of reptile handlers, responded to the shocking situation yesterday, capturing two of the three reported snakes.

The remaining python, estimated to be 7-8 feet long, is still believed to be inside the residence, heightening local fears.

According to Sheriff Otey, the search for the elusive snake is ongoing, and residents are urged to remain vigilant. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has joined the efforts to locate the missing python. The situation has left many in Sims uneasy, with local authorities emphasizing the importance of caution.

As the search continues, residents are reminded to secure their homes and stay alert for any signs of the python.
