ROCK FALLS, IL – The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is meticulously investigating a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred near Sterling and Walton Roads on December 4th at 9:29 p.m.
Patrick J. Yocum, a 40-year-old resident of Rock Falls, became the unfortunate victim of this heart-wrenching accident. While walking near the intersection, he was struck by an unidentified vehicle, later found by a passerby lying in the middle of the road.
Yocum was rushed to KSB Hospital by the Amboy Fire Department, where he was tragically pronounced deceased. The seriousness of the situation led to a temporary closure of the roadway, as accident reconstructionists and detectives converged on the scene for an in-depth investigation.
Critical evidence gathered at the site indicates the involvement of a 2014 to 2018 Jeep Cherokee, now suspected to have substantial damage to its front end, including the grill, hood, and windshield.
