Death Behind Bars: Illinois Murder Suspect Found Dead in McLean County Jail

Bloomington, IL – An inmate at the McLean County Detention Facility (MCDF) was found dead Thursday night. 

According to McLean County Sheriff’s Office in a statement Saturday, the inmate was discovered a security check at about 9:33 p.m. by correctional officers.

The inmate, identified as 41-year-old inmate Joshua Livingston of Danvers unresponsive. Responders reportedly deployed rescue aid with the Bloomington Fire Department rushing to the scene. Despite the exhaustive rescue attempts, Livingston was pronounced dead at 10:22 p.m. by the McLean County Coroner’s Office.

Illinois State Police have since stepped in to investigate the matter, aligning with standard protocols, and the incident has been reported to the Illinois Department of Corrections. 

Livingston, incarcerated since late April on charges of murder and other felonies, now becomes the center of a probing inquiry. The forthcoming autopsy by the Office of the McLean County Coroner is anticipated to shed light on the exact cause and circumstances of his death.
