McLean County Shooting: Victim Hospitalized, Suspect in Custody

Normal, IL – A man is recovering after a late-night shooting in Normal, and police say a suspect is already in custody as investigators continue to gather evidence.

According to the Normal Police Department, officers responded at approximately 11:50 p.m. Thursday, June 25, to reports of shots fired in the 700 block of North Golfcrest Road.

When officers arrived, they found an adult man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Officers immediately rendered emergency medical aid until paramedics arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in serious but stable condition.

According to police, officers secured the scene and began collecting evidence while investigators from the department’s Patrol and Investigations divisions continued processing the incident.

Investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident in which the victim and suspect were known to one another. Officials said there is no information indicating an ongoing threat to the public.

Police also confirmed they have a suspect in custody. Any criminal charges will be announced as they are determined.
