Lombard Man Killed in Multi-Vehicle Collision in Joliet

Joliet, IL – A Lombard man died following a multi-vehicle crash in Joliet on Wednesday evening. The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of West Jefferson Street and Airport Drive.

According to the Joliet Police Department, the accident involved a Ford Ranger driven by the 72-year-old man from Lombard. The Ford struck the rear passenger side of a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 44-year-old Shorewood woman. The Ford then hit a Tesla Model 3 driven by a 38-year-old man from Naperville before swerving into oncoming traffic and colliding head-on with an eastbound Pontiac Torrent driven by a 22-year-old Rockdale man.

The driver of the Ford was transported to Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department, where he was pronounced dead. The Will County Coroner’s Office will determine the identification and manner of death of the deceased.

No other injuries were reported from the crash. The roadway was closed for several hours as officers reconstructed the scene. Authorities are urging anyone with video footage or additional information to contact the Joliet Police Traffic Unit at (815) 724-3193. The crash remains under investigation.
