Aurora, IL – A 28-year-old Country Club Hills woman is facing multiple criminal charges after Aurora police say she allegedly broke into a west-side home and barricaded herself inside, leading to an hour-long standoff with officers.
According to the Aurora Police Department, officers responded at approximately 9:14 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2026, to the 100 block of S. Edgelawn Avenue after a neighbor reported seeing a suspicious person at a residence.
When officers arrived, they discovered evidence of forced entry and encountered a woman inside the home. Police said the woman refused to come out, prompting officers to secure the area while the department’s Crisis Negotiations Team and Special Response Team (SRT) responded to the scene.
After more than an hour of negotiations, officers took the woman into custody without further incident. She was transported to a local hospital for evaluation before being charged. Authorities said no other individuals were inside the residence, and no officers or members of the public were injured.
Police identified the suspect as Kendra Presley, 28, of Country Club Hills.
According to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office, Presley has been charged with:
- Residential burglary (Class 1 felony)
- Theft – Unauthorized Control Over Property More Than $500 but Not Exceeding $10,000 (Class 3 felony)
- Criminal Damage to Property Not Exceeding $500 (Class A misdemeanor)
- Criminal Trespass to Residence (Class A misdemeanor)
