South Elgin, IL – Authorities say a recent forensic excavation tied to the 2016 disappearance of Kianna Galvin has ended without uncovering human remains or new investigative leads.
The search took place at a residence in the 800 block of Revere Road as part of an ongoing effort to find answers in the nearly decade-old case.
According to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office, the excavation was conducted after ground-penetrating radar detected anomalies beneath the surface that investigators believed warranted further examination. The Kane County Office of Emergency Management assisted at the scene.
Officials confirmed the search did not produce evidence connected to Galvin’s disappearance.
Kianna Galvin, who was 17 at the time, was last seen on May 6, 2016, after telling her sister she was heading to Jim Hansen Park in South Elgin. Her whereabouts remain unknown.
Despite the lack of new findings, authorities emphasized the investigation is still active.
“While yesterday’s search did not uncover the answers we had hoped for, our commitment to finding the truth about Kianna’s disappearance remains unwavering,” Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser said in a statement.
Investigators say they will continue to pursue any credible leads. Due to the ongoing nature of the case, limited additional details are being released.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the South Elgin Police Department at (847) 741-2151.
