Aurora, IL – The Aurora Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation following a deadly incident on the city’s west side at 4:49 PM on January 13, 2024, emergency calls were received about a vehicle crash and subsequent gunfire at Prairie Street and Woodlawn Avenue.
According to police reports officers arrived to find a 46-year-old female victim with gunshot wounds inside the crashed vehicle. The Aurora Fire Department Paramedics transported her to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. This incident did not result in any other reported injuries.
The identity of the deceased is awaiting release pending an autopsy by the Kane County Coroner’s Office, scheduled for January 17, 2024. Detectives from the Aurora Police Department’s Investigations Bureau, along with Evidence Technicians, are actively working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
