Belle Rive, IL – A domestic disturbance call in Belle Rive resulted in the arrest of a local man on Wednesday evening. Responding to a report at 1415 N. Abbott Lane around 7:42 PM, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, aided by Mt. Vernon Police and Illinois State Troopers, took 27-year-old Stepfon NL Smith into custody. Authorities interviewed witnesses and collected evidence at the scene, including a firearm allegedly involved in the incident.
Smith faces charges of aggravated use of a weapon, aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated domestic battery, and criminal damage to property. He is being held at Jefferson County Jail pending a pre-trial detention hearing. Smith is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
