Wheaton, IL – A recent altercation at Wheaton Warrenville South High School has escalated to felony charges for two teen juveniles, partially thanks to evidence from a student-recorded video. The Wheaton Police Department reported that the incident unfolded on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024, when a School Resource Officer (SRO) responded to a medical emergency in the school’s commons area. The emergency was linked to a physical fight between students, resulting in one student requiring hospital treatment.

Further investigation revealed a second juvenile’s involvement, identified with the help of cell phone footage captured by another student. This video, which documented a portion of the altercation, was handed over to the police and school administration, aiding in the investigation.

As a result, two male juveniles are facing Aggravated Battery on Public Property charges, a Class 3 Felony. They are expected to appear in Juvenile Court on March 7, 2024.
