Lombard, IL – Residents and visitors heading to downtown Lombard Sunday should prepare for temporary parking restrictions and traffic delays as the 2026 Lilac Parade returns to the village.

According to the Village of Lombard, the parade begins at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 17, at Glenbard East High School, located at 1014 S. Main St., before traveling north along Main Street to Maple Street.

Temporary parking restrictions will be enforced from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. along the parade route and surrounding streets. Officials said rolling road closures are expected between approximately 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. as the parade moves through downtown.

The village released a detailed parking restriction map showing no-parking zones across several residential and downtown streets, including portions of Main Street, Maple Street, Stewart Avenue, Charlotte Street, Lombard Avenue, Madison Street, and surrounding roads near the parade corridor.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid the immediate downtown area during the event window and allow extra travel time if passing through Lombard Sunday afternoon. Residents attending the parade are also encouraged to walk when possible due to limited parking availability and street access restrictions.

The annual Lilac Parade is one of Lombard’s largest community events and typically draws large crowds to the downtown area each spring.

Additional information, including the full parade route and parking restriction map, is available through the Village of Lombard website and official social media pages.
