Casket Ejected onto Street after Stolen Chicago Heights Car Collides with Funeral Hearse

HOMEWOOD, IL – A stolen silver Kia taken from Chicago Heights crashed into a white Cadillac funeral hearse Friday morning at the crossroads of 183rd Street & Kedzie Avenue. 

According to Homewood police, it happened around 8:30 AM when the stolen car hit hearse, with the force of the impact ejecting a casket from the hearse onto the busy street below. Three individuals bolted from the crashed Kia, with one swiftly captured. 

The driver of the Cadillac, deeply shaken, was treated at a local hospital. Witnesses of the chase and ensuing collision are encouraged to contact Homewood Police at 708-206-3420.
