ILLINOIS – A “joke” took a serious turn at Taylorville Senior High School on Thursday, October 19.
According to police reports, it happened around 11:13 a.m., the school was thrust into a soft lockdown after a student jokingly claimed his Airsoft gun was real and housed in his locker.
Quick acting by the administration led to a thorough search of the involved students’ lockers, revealing no weapons. Within eight-minutes, the lockdown was lifted at 11:21 a.m., allowing the school to revert to its regular schedule. Taylorville officials underscored the incident as a testament to their immediate response in prioritizing student safety.
