Champaign, IL Hotel Robbery: Tolono Man Shot, Suspect at Large

Champaign, IL – A Tolono man is in stable condition after being shot during a robbery at a Champaign hotel late Wednesday.

Police responded to a call at 11:28 p.m. from a hotel in the 900 block of W. Bloomington Road, where they found a 34-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the chest. The man was conscious and alert as officers and Champaign Fire Department personnel provided medical aid before transporting him to a local hospital.

According to the initial investigation, the victim was visiting an acquaintance when an unidentified suspect approached and robbed him and another guest. During the robbery, the suspect fired a shot, striking the victim. The assailant then fled the scene.

Authorities are canvassing the area for witnesses and surveillance footage. They urge residents and businesses with exterior cameras to contact the police. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
