Joliet, IL – The Will County Sheriff’s Office delivered a stern message to reckless motorists during the recent Labor Day weekend – impaired driving will not be tolerated. In a joint effort with law enforcement agencies and safety partners across Illinois, the campaign, funded by federal highway safety grants, yielded astounding results.
Traffic Lt. Denny emphasized the campaign’s importance, stating, “Through the Labor Day campaign, we helped to make our roads safer and reminded motorists that impaired driving is not a game.”
The campaign’s outcomes were staggering: 11 felony arrests, 6 suspended or revoked licenses, 21 uninsured vehicles, 92 speeding citations, 1 child restraint violation, 24 misdemeanor arrests, 8 illegal cell phone violations, 7 invalid driver’s licenses, 37 other moving violations, and 45 non-moving violations.
This crackdown sends a clear message that impaired driving is a serious offense with severe consequences. Motorists beware – drive sober or face the consequences of a DUI arrest.
