Kankakee, IL – Republican Leader Jim Durkin (R – Western Springs) appointed State Representative Lindsay Parkhurst (R – Kankakee) to the Recovery, Reinvest, and Renew (R3) Board.
The R3 Grant Program receives 25% of recreational marijuana tax revenue and will invest in communities hit by “economic disinvestment and violence.”
“I am very excited to be appointed to the Recovery, Reinvest, and Renew Board,” Rep. Parkhurst said. “In this capacity, I will continue my commitment to restorative justice by helping ensure communities that have been disproportionally impacted have an opportunity to recover.”
The R3 Board is tasked with oversight, providing guidance, and develop a structure for administering the grant program. Additionally, R3 Board will designate R3 Area boundaries, identifying jurisdictions eligible for funding based on state data indicating highest-need communities
