A patient is in the ICU tonight at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox with Coronavirus.

That announcement came from President/CEO Ruth Colby in a statement earlier today. The patient is in her 50s and is currently in isolation.  So far the hospital has tested 30 patients to date with the first 11 results coming back today.  They’re still waiting on the other results.

The hospital has since changed visitor policies and will not be allowing visitors in any area of the hospital beginning immediately. Some exemptions will however be made for single visitors over the age of 18 to pediatric, end of life and critically ill patients.

Silver Cross will also be screening anyone who enters any of their four entrances, beginning today, suspending direct admissions to the building and temporarily suspending services at their Outpatient Endoscopy Center, Pulmonary Function Lab, Cardiac Rehabilitation Phases II and III, Pulmonary Rehabilitation and the Sleep Lab.

A negative pressure unit has been created on campus to care for COVID-19 patients.  There are no occupants as of today.
