WHEATFIELD, IN – A violent altercation in Jasper County Sunday resulted in felony charges for a Rensselaer man.
According to Jasper County Sheriff’s Police, officers responded to a threat and trespassing call near Wheatfield, where they encountered 34-year-old Dustin W. Giroux of near the intersection of County Rd. 1100 N. and County Rd. 80 W.
According to reports, Giroux allegedly disregarded the Deputies’ attempts to engage and displayed aggressive behavior while heading northbound on C.R. 80 W.
Following a brief struggle, law enforcement successfully apprehended Giroux. Despite refusing to provide identification, he was identified as the individual accused of physically threatening the complainant and making alarming statements about knowing the complainant’s residence and planning to return. The complainant expressed a desire to press charges against Giroux.
Officers report throughout the investigation, Giroux exhibited a combative attitude, persistently resisting law enforcement and issuing further threats. As a result, he was taken into custody and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.
Giroux now faces charges of Intimidation, classified as a Level 6 Felony, and Resisting Law Enforcement, categorized as a Class A Misdemeanor.
