Grab & Go meals essential to area schools during closures

Schools from across the area have slowly been issuing plans for area students to get Grab & Go school meals during the COVID-19 closures.

In Bourbonnnais, BESD 53 Assistant Superintendent James Duggan announced today Bourbonnais School District 53 will offer grab and go breakfast/lunch combinations for any student under the age of 18 during the closure from 8 am to 11 am at Alan Sheppard School.

Bradley School District Superintendent Scott Goselin announced starting March 17th through March 20th and March 30th, grab and go lunches will be available for students, both breakfast and lunch from 8am to 10am.

Kankakee School District 111 announced on Sunday breakfast and lunch will be available tomorrow and Wednesday this week.  Details on time and location are to come, keep watch on their Facebook.

Manteno Schools Superintendent Lisa Harrod announced on Sunday the schools plan to set up food Grab and Go packages during the closure period.  Additional details to come.

As of Monday afternoon, Momence, Herscher, Watseka, Peotone and Manhattan schools had issued no formal announcements on extending meals to students during closure.
