CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – A Champaign teenager found themselves in handcuffs Friday as University of Illinois Police apprehended them for allegedly shoplifting a significant amount of electronics from a local Target store.
Authorities state that the arrest was prompted by a report from a store security employee, who observed 18-year-old Cristian A. Rosado of Champaign, also an employee at Target, allegedly leaving the premises on Thursday without paying for two electronic items.
The stolen merchandise carried an estimated retail value of $830.
Rosado now faces charges of retail theft, and a bond of $2,500 has been set by authorities. Rosado has been released on their own recognizance pending further legal proceedings.
