The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) has received reports of six young people experiencing severe breathing problems after vaping, and is investigating five more individuals. These individuals experienced respiratory symptoms including cough, shortness of breath, and fatigue. Some also experienced vomiting and diarrhea. Symptoms worsened over a period of days or weeks before admission to the hospital.

State Fire Marshall was called into Union Hill Friday afternoon after reports of a blaze that had engulfed a lumber mill and metal shop, along with the town’s Post Office.

Mayor of Joliet Bob O’Dekirk will host a town hall meeting on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 from 6-8 p.m. at the VFW Cantigny Post, 826 Horseshoe Dr. in order to discuss the recent wave of violence on the city’s west side. Will County Health Department Environmental Health Division has discovered a second positive West Nile virus sample taken from a mosquito set in one of 14 traps around Will County, this time in Manhattan. It’s the second sample discovered there. The other samples were taken from Lockport, Plainfield and Joliet.
