City of Kankakee Wishes Fire Deputy Chief Bruno Well on His Retirement
Bruno was born and raised in the city of Kankakee, attending St. Patrick’s Grade School and graduated from Bishop McNamara in 1984. Bruno then joined the Army, spending 3 years in active duty and 3 years in the reserves. After the military, he married his high school sweetheart, Trina. Deputy Chief Bruno said the fire service was a family affair. Bruno’s father-in-law, brother-in-law and brother all worked for the Kankakee Fire Department before he was hired by the city of Kankakee in 1990.

Kankakee, IL – Officer Robert Huebner and Officer Shane McWhorter started with the Kankakee Police Department this week after they recently graduated from the Police Training Institute in Champaign, Illinois last week.

Mayor Wells-Armstrong Presents Plans to Address Gun Violence at Cities United’s Annual Convening
Mayor Chasity Wells-Armstrong joined mayors from across the nation at the 6th annual Cities United Convening in Hampton, Virginia. Cities United, created in 2011, is a national coalition of mayors working to bring awareness to gun violence with a focus on African-American males. Their goal is to help local leaders reduce homicides in their cities by 50%, by the year 2025.
