Harrison Swatting Incident Investigated by Calumet County

Village of Harrison, WI – The Calumet County Sheriff's Office responded to a major emergency report on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, only to determine that the call was part of a dangerous hoax known as "swatting." At approximately 6:48 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a residence on Winding Trail Drive following a claim of a stabbing and a shooting.

According to the Calumet County Sheriff's Office, the caller alleged that he had been stabbed in the chest and had shot his wife with a firearm, claiming she was deceased. Upon arrival, deputies contacted the homeowner and discovered no evidence of a crime, a weapons-related incident, or any other emergency at the property.

Swatting is a criminal act in which individuals make false reports with the intent to trigger significant law enforcement, fire, or EMS responses. Authorities stress that such incidents are inherently dangerous, as emergency responders must treat every call as potentially lethal until proven otherwise, often diverting critical resources from legitimate community services.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted by Harrison Fire Rescue, Gold Cross Ambulance, and Brillion Police. Lt. Joseph Tenor confirmed that the incident remains under investigation.
