San Antonio, TX – A powerful cold front is set to sweep through South Central Texas on Wednesday, bringing freezing temperatures, gusty winds, and dangerous wind chills.
According to the National Weather Service, a Cold Weather Advisory takes effect from midnight Tuesday to noon Wednesday, followed by an Extreme Cold Watch late Wednesday night through Thursday morning. Wind chills could drop as low as 6 to 15 degrees in the Hill Country and Edwards Plateau, with gusts reaching 35 mph.
Residents should dress in layers, cover exposed skin, and avoid prolonged outdoor exposure. Homeowners should wrap pipes to prevent freezing, and pet owners should provide warm shelter.
The cold snap will ease by the weekend, with temperatures warming into the upper 60s by Sunday. Until then, expect mostly sunny skies Wednesday and Thursday, followed by increasing clouds and a slight chance of showers Friday night.
