Pittsburgh, PA – Snow and gusty winds are expected to hit parts of Pennsylvania and West Virginia from Sunday afternoon through Monday afternoon, potentially affecting travel and bringing hazardous conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 1 p.m. Sunday to 3 p.m. Monday for the higher elevations of Westmoreland and Fayette counties in Pennsylvania, and Preston, Eastern Monongalia, and Western Tucker counties in West Virginia. Forecasts predict 2 to 4 inches of snow, with wind gusts reaching up to 45 mph.

Slippery road conditions are expected, particularly during the Monday morning commute. Strong winds may also cause tree branches to fall, increasing the risk of power outages.

Residents are advised to prepare for winter travel delays and exercise caution on the roads. The NWS encourages reporting snow or ice accumulations by calling 412-262-1988, posting on the NWS Pittsburgh Facebook page, or tweeting @NWSPittsburgh.
