Morristown, NJ – Freezing rain and icy conditions continue to impact northern New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania, with a winter weather advisory in effect until 10 a.m. Sunday for some areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, freezing rain is expected across Hunterdon, Warren, Sussex, and Morris counties in New Jersey, as well as Berks, Upper Bucks, Lehigh, Northampton, Carbon, and Monroe counties in Pennsylvania. Ice accumulations could range from a light glaze up to three-tenths of an inch, particularly in Carbon and Monroe counties, where travel could be nearly impossible.

Residents are urged to use caution while traveling and prepare for possible power outages due to ice buildup on power lines and trees. Power outages and tree damage are most likely in areas expecting heavier ice accumulation, including Stroudsburg, PA, and Newton, NJ.

Travelers can check road conditions by calling 511 in their respective states. Authorities recommend slowing down, leaving extra space between vehicles, and avoiding unnecessary travel during the advisory period. The freezing rain is expected to taper off by late Sunday morning, but icy conditions may persist as temperatures remain near freezing.
