Connellsville, PA — A flood warning remains in effect for the Youghiogheny River at Connellsville from Sunday afternoon until late Sunday night, with minor flooding expected in Fayette County.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, the river will rise above its flood stage of 12 feet by late Sunday afternoon, cresting at 12.6 feet in the evening before receding below flood stage later tonight. The current river level stands at 4.5 feet as of 1:15 a.m. Sunday.

Flooding is expected near Yough Park when the river reaches 12 feet. At 14 feet, water could enter basements of approximately 30 homes along the left bank, mirroring past floods such as Hurricane Ivan in 2004. While the current forecast falls short of those levels, residents should remain cautious.

Local officials advise securing valuables in low-lying areas and staying updated through weather.gov/pbz. The next update will be issued at 2 p.m. Sunday.
