Gaylord, MI – A winter storm sweeping through Michigan will bring heavy snow and bitter cold, creating dangerous travel conditions through early next week. By Sunday night, wind chills could plunge below zero, creating hazardous travel and life-threatening conditions for those exposed to the cold.

According to the National Weather Service, widespread snow will continue through Sunday, with accumulations of up to 6 inches in some areas. Monday’s high will barely reach 10°F, with strong winds making it feel significantly colder. Officials warn that additional lake-effect snow early next week could worsen road conditions, especially along US-131 and I-75.

Residents should prepare for icy roads and reduced visibility. Anyone traveling should pack emergency supplies, including blankets, food, and water. Those without adequate heating should seek shelter, as frostbite can develop in minutes with extreme wind chills.

Looking ahead, temperatures will remain well below average through midweek, with snow showers persisting. Authorities urge caution and recommend staying indoors when possible.
