Somerset, PA – A Flood Watch remains in effect for Somerset County from 7 a.m. Friday through late Friday night as heavy rain and snowmelt increase the risk of rising waters.

According to the National Weather Service in State College, up to 1 inch of rainfall, combined with melting snowpack, may cause significant rises in rivers, creeks, and streams. Ice jams could further contribute to localized flooding as temperatures climb into the 40s.

Residents in flood-prone areas should prepare for potential flooding and stay alert for possible Flood Warnings. Low-lying areas, roads, and small streams are most at risk for excessive runoff.

Authorities urge residents to monitor weather updates and take precautions as needed. For more information on flood safety, visit weather.gov/safety/flood.
