Carlisle, AR — Arkansas State Police (ASP) are investigating a suspicious death after a burned body was discovered in the aftermath of a fire at a Lonoke County storage facility.
Firefighters responded to a blaze at Bennett Storage Units on State Highway 13 North around 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday, January 22. The fire engulfed six storage units before being extinguished. Nearly a week later, on Tuesday, January 28, an insurance agent assessing the damage found a body inside one of the affected units.
Authorities identified the deceased as Daniel Ford, 41, of Carlisle. His remains have been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine the cause and manner of death.
ASP fire investigators and CID agents, along with the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire and Ford’s death. Officials have not ruled out foul play.
The case remains active, and authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.
