Louisville, KY – A mix of rain and snow is set to impact Louisville this weekend, followed by dangerously cold temperatures early next week.
The National Weather Service in Louisville reports that rain will develop overnight Friday into Saturday morning. By Saturday evening, colder air will sweep into the region, transitioning the rain into snow showers. High temperatures on Saturday will range from 39 to 45 degrees before plunging into the low 20s overnight. Sunday’s high will only reach the mid-20s, with gusty northwest winds making it feel much colder.
Roads could become slick, especially on major routes like I-65 and I-264, as snow showers continue into Sunday morning. Icy patches are likely, particularly on bridges and overpasses. By Monday, an arctic air mass will settle over the area, with highs only in the teens and wind chills falling below zero.
Officials urge residents to limit outdoor exposure, dress in layers, and bring pets indoors during the cold snap. Motorists should keep emergency supplies in their vehicles and monitor local updates for potential weather-related disruptions.
Prepare now for a wintry weekend and stay informed as conditions develop.
