Dodge City, KS – A dense fog advisory remains in effect for southwest Kansas this morning, impacting visibility across major routes, including US-50 and US-283. Drivers are advised to proceed with caution as visibility could drop to less than a quarter mile in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Dodge City, the advisory will continue until 9 a.m. Monday. The fog is most concentrated south and east of Dodge City, with affected areas including Ford, Barber, and Comanche counties. Low visibility may lead to hazardous driving conditions, especially during morning commutes.

Residents are urged to use headlights, reduce speed, and leave ample following distance to avoid accidents. The NWS also recommends avoiding unnecessary travel until the fog clears later this morning.

This foggy start to the week gives way to mostly cloudy conditions later Monday, with a high near 51°F. Winds from the northeast at 6 to 13 mph will bring cooler air overnight, dropping temperatures to around 33°F. Looking ahead, Christmas Day will be mostly sunny and cool, with highs near 50°F.

Wednesday night into Thursday, rain chances increase to 50%, with cooler temperatures remaining in the mid-40s. By the weekend, skies are expected to clear, bringing sunnier weather and highs in the mid-50s by Saturday.

Travelers should monitor road conditions closely and stay updated on weather changes by checking local forecasts.
