Philadelphia, PA – A mix of rain and snow is expected to impact Southeast Pennsylvania starting Friday night, creating hazardous conditions for travelers. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Pocono region and areas along the I-95 corridor, warning of up to 4 inches of snow in some locations.
According to the NWS, the heaviest snowfall will occur in higher elevations, including the Poconos, where 2–4 inches of accumulation are anticipated. Areas north and west of I-95 may see 1–2 inches, while Philadelphia and areas southeast could experience a brief snow period before turning to rain. Precipitation will begin Friday evening, transitioning into snow overnight and tapering off Saturday morning. Roads could become slick during the Friday night commute, and drivers should exercise caution, particularly in areas forecast to receive mixed precipitation.
Temperatures will hover near freezing Saturday, with daytime highs reaching 34°F. Saturday night will see clear skies, with temperatures plunging to 17°F, increasing the likelihood of icy roads. Sunday brings sunshine and a high of 27°F, followed by mostly clear skies through Monday.
For residents planning travel this weekend, it is advised to monitor road conditions and prepare for potential delays. Snow clearing efforts are expected to prioritize major roadways like I-95 and I-78.
