Madison, WI – The Wisconsin State Patrol announced the passing of two retired K-9 officers, Cirus and Nora, who served with distinction for nearly a decade each.
Cirus, a narcotics detection dog, served from 2015 to 2023 before retiring in April. He passed away on Dec. 12 at age 12. Cirus assisted with searches of vehicles, facilities, and warrants, leading to multiple seizures of illegal contraband.
According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, Nora was the first K-9 trained in-house. Beginning her career in 2013, she worked in the Northcentral and Northeast regions until her 2022 retirement. Nora passed away on Dec. 13 at age 13. Her career included high-impact detection work and contributions to public safety demonstrations.
Both K-9s were celebrated for their dedication and outreach efforts. After retirement, they lived with their handlers’ families.
The State Patrol highlighted their irreplaceable contributions, stating, “Cirus and Nora made Wisconsin safer and inspired countless individuals.”
