Maine State Police: Impaired Driver Causes Wrong-Way I-95 Crash in Falmouth

Falmouth, ME – A Windham man is facing charges after driving the wrong way on I-95, causing a head-on collision Thursday night.

According to Maine State Police, the crash occurred around mile marker 53 on the Maine Turnpike in Falmouth. A northbound vehicle, driving in the southbound lane, collided with another car operating southbound.

The driver of the southbound vehicle, a pregnant woman, sustained minor injuries. Cumberland Fire and Rescue transported her and a passenger to Maine Medical Center in Portland as a precaution.

Police identified the wrong-way driver as Stephan Adams, 30, of Windham. Authorities say Adams showed signs of impairment during the investigation and was injured in the crash. Adams was taken to Maine Medical Center for treatment.

Adams is now charged with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol (OUI) and Driving to Endanger. Police continue to investigate the incident.

Officials urge drivers to remain alert, especially at night, and report any unsafe activity.
