Tallahassee, FL – Residents of the Florida Panhandle are urged to prepare for severe weather today, including the potential for waterspouts and gusty winds near Tallahassee. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued warnings for hazardous conditions expected through Wednesday morning.
According to the NWS, a line of strong thunderstorms was detected early Wednesday, extending from St. George Island to 31 miles southwest of Empire Mica Wreck. These storms are moving east at 35 knots and could produce winds exceeding 34 knots and dangerous waterspouts, posing risks to small vessels and coastal infrastructure.
