Wilmington, OH – A mild start to the week will give way to colder weather and snow showers across the Ohio Valley by Wednesday evening. Residents are urged to prepare for rapidly changing conditions that could make travel hazardous.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, temperatures will drop sharply beginning Tuesday night, with daytime highs falling into the 30s by Wednesday. Light rain expected on Tuesday could transition to snow showers Wednesday afternoon, with wind gusts reaching up to 40 mph by evening. While snowfall accumulation is forecast to remain under half an inch, brief bursts of snow could reduce visibility and create slick spots on major roadways such as Interstate 71 and U.S. Route 68.
A hazardous weather outlook issued early Tuesday notes that the wind chill Wednesday night into Thursday morning could plunge to single digits. Commuters and outdoor workers should take precautions to avoid exposure to the extreme cold.
Looking ahead, Thursday is expected to bring sunny skies but frigid temperatures, with highs near 27 degrees and lows dropping to 16. Friday will be slightly warmer, reaching the low 40s with sunny conditions. However, rain is likely to return on Saturday, bringing potential challenges for weekend plans.
Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts and take steps to ensure their safety during the midweek weather shift. Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle and limit travel Wednesday night if possible.
