Tulsa, OK – Strong northwest winds will sweep across northeast Oklahoma today, with gusts reaching up to 35 miles per hour. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns of challenging travel conditions, especially for high-profile vehicles along major highways, including I-44. Residents are advised to secure loose outdoor objects to prevent damage.

According to the NWS, these gusty winds result from a cold front that passed through the region late Tuesday night. Wind speeds of 25–35 mph are expected to persist through this evening, particularly in areas near Tulsa, Bartlesville, and Fort Smith, AR. Temperatures will stay mild, with a high of 57 degrees and sunny skies, though the wind chill could make it feel cooler.

Looking ahead, calmer conditions are forecast for Thursday, with lighter winds and a high near 56 degrees. Thursday night will see lows dropping to 35 with clear skies. Friday and Saturday will bring warming trends, peaking at 63 degrees Saturday with sunny skies. By Sunday, highs will climb to a pleasant 71 degrees, but gusty conditions could return late in the day.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution while traveling, particularly on exposed roadways. Light structures, tree branches, and holiday decorations could also be affected by today’s winds. Stay updated by monitoring weather alerts through local channels.
