Western Chelan County, WA – A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 p.m. Monday as heavy snow blankets the region. Areas such as Stehekin, Stevens Pass, and Holden Village are bracing for up to five additional inches of snow today.

According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Storm Watch will follow from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday evening. Snowfall could total between 10 to 20 inches, with rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour possible. Wind gusts may reach 50 mph in mountain passes and ridgetops, worsening visibility and travel conditions.

The storm’s impacts could include dangerous travel, tree damage, and power outages. Drivers are urged to carry emergency supplies, including flashlights, food, and water. Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility, creating hazardous conditions for travelers.

Residents should monitor weather updates and prepare for disruptions. Emergency management officials emphasize that only essential travel should occur under such conditions. Visit the Washington Department of Transportation website for up-to-date travel information.

This storm serves as a reminder of the importance of winter preparedness in mountain communities.
